Unique production technology of abrasive surface
Abrasive surface of glass nail files is produced by chemical etching (acid engraving). This process forms microscopic grinding spikes right out of the glass body and so the abrasive surface does not blunt or wear out. Grinding elements are sharp, very uniform and evenly distributed on the surface. Thanks to these outstanding surface features filing of nails is effective, yet gentle at the same time.
In comparison with common metal nails files, paper nail files or glass nail files with grinding grains attached to a base, no falling off of grinding grains occurs. Therefore the abrasive surface of crystal glass nail files does not wear out and has got a virtually unlimited lifespan
Production technology of Czech crystal glass nail files
The raw material for production of crystal nail files is flat glass, so-called float glass (sheet glass similar to window glass). Glass composition corresponds to common composition of these kinds of glass (sodium-calcium-silicate glass), and therefore it does not contain any heavy metals or other undesirable substances.
The first production step is production of the grinding surface. Roughening is achieved by chemical etching (acid engraving, action of a mixture of acids onto the glass surface). The production technology is a modification of the process of glass etching that has been used in glass industry for centuries. Grinding elements are formed right out of the glass body, which contradistinguishes the crystal nail files significantly from any other files. Other types of files usually have the grinding grains attached to a base; in the course of time the grains tend to fall off and the file blunts. This never happens with the glass nail files. At the same time due to the production by chemical reaction very evenly roughened and sharp abrasive surfaces are obtained, which gives to the grinding surface of glass nail files its outstanding grinding qualities.
After production of the abrasive surface, cutting of the shape of the glass nail file follows. Cutting of crystal nail files is carried out by the traditional hand grinding.
Next step is chemical hardening, where the glass nail files are subjected to action of melted potassium nitrate under high temperatures. During hardening process the sodium ions in surface layers of glass are exchanged for potassium ions, the process increases the surface tension and overall firmness and mechanical resistance of the crystal nail files.
Subsequently sorting and quality control are carried out; thereby the process of production of the plain crystal nail files is finished. According to the requests of customers major part of the production of crystal nail files is further decorated with some of the decoration techniques we offer. After decorations are finished another quality control follows.
In production of our crystal nail files we accentuate top-notch quality and high-class workmanship. Majority of the manufacturing operations are performed in traditional by-hand manner that enables running quality control. Standards are stipulated for all production operations, against which the products are inspected after each operation. Moreover all products are subjected to one-hundred-percent final inspection. This system guarantees outstanding quality of our crystal nail files.
Thus our customers are getting in their hands a top-class hand-made product.
